Gerold Dermind, MBA

Gerold Dermid has worked in the field of public health for the past 17 years, focused on accreditation, quality improvement, workforce development, social marketing and community engagement. Mr. Dermid has provided leadership and strategic direction to communities throughout the world in communicable disease prevention, with a special focus on HIV/AIDS, chronic disease prevention, substance use services, health equity, social justice, and international development. He currently manages workforce and student training programs locally, nationally, and internationally, with a special focus on the development of trainings within traditionally underserved communities. ​

Maria Pillar Martin, PhD has over 30 years of experience in public health, including both practice and academia. In the last 14 years, she has worked at 3 different universities in academia. Dr. Martin has also held positions with the Miami Date County Health Department as the Director of Tuberculosis Surveillance and the Project Director of Asthma Surveillance.

 LeKeisha Jackson, PhD is the  the Curriculum Manager for the Graduate Education in Public Health at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.  Dr. Jackson has worked in higher education for over 13 years in faculty and staff positions within the divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.  Dr. Jackson is experienced in public health education and workforce training, curriculum and instruction, institutional and program accreditation (CEPH, SACSCOC, ARC-PA, LCME, etc.), health sciences interprofessional education, online education and program development, leadership development.

​Marshare Penny is the Director of the Master of Public Health Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at California Baptist University. She has more than 15 years of experience in community and public health, with 10 years serving as a local epidemiologist in the Inland Empire region of California. Her research interests include the areas of health equity, social determinants of health, epidemiology, disaster preparedness, mental health, and injury and violence prevention. She earned her DrPH in Health Promotion from Loma Linda University and her MPH in epidemiology from San Diego State University.

​Tony Sinay is a faculty member in the Health Care Administration (HCA) Department at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) since 2003. He served as a program director in 2003-2009, and has been a chair since 2009. Previously Dr. Sinay worked at Des Moines University - Osteopathic Medical Center as an Associate Professor, and at University of Scranton as an Assistant Professor. He taught various health care courses including health care economics and finance, and his publications appeared in high impact journals including the Social Science & Medicine, Health Care Management Review, Journal of Health Care Finance, Journal of Rural Health and Journal of Public Health and Health Management. Dr. Sinay received his PhD and MS degrees from St. Louis University in economics and finance, respectively. Dr. Sinay has been very successful building up a HCA Department at CSULB with substantial new funds, and he would like to help AAPHP to do the same.

Lisa Gren, PhD, MPH. Dr. Gren is an Associate Professor in the Division of Public Health at the University of Utah. She currently teaches courses in biostatistics and research methods. Dr. Gren’s research interests are in practice-based research in primary care, clinical epidemiology, and clinical trials methodology. Active areas of research include influenza surveillance in outpatient settings, utilization of clinical resources (including electronic medical records) for public health research, use of public health data in clinical decision-making, and operations and management of clinical trials. She is affiliated with the Utah Health Research Network (UHRN), Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial (PLCO), National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), and Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT).

Dr. LeKeisha Jackson has experience in public health education and workforce training, curriculum  development and management, CEPH accreditation and SACS accreditation standards, Health Sciences Interprofessional Education, and online program development and management.  Dr. Jackson has an active research agenda in the areas of Public Health education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Institutional Research and Development.   Having taught in the public-school system as a science teacher for 5 years, Dr. Jackson has also worked in higher education for over 10 years in positions within the divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. Her love for community engagement and academia is exhibited active participation with Phi Kappa Phi, APTR, CAAPHP, and other professional organizations.  Dr. Jackson currently serves as the Curriculum Manager for the Graduate Education in Public Health at Morehouse School of Medicine.
